Every July, Birdsville’s iconic Big Red Bash kicks off under the open skies of Australia’s Simpson Desert. Thousands of people from around Australia, and the world, head into the desert for the most remote music festival on the planet.

It all starts with the journey. Whether you set out on a road trip, hop on a plane or jump on the Rock'n'Roll Charter Bus you’re in for an epic outback adventure. Birdsville’s concert is definitely off the beaten track ' but that’s what makes it so special!

And, if you want to camp for longer, our early entry passes let you access the Bashville campsite up to two days beforehand.

However you get there, you’ll have three nights under the stars, dancing to the sweet sounds of Aussie music legends as they rock the desert.

And, there’s plenty of fun during the day too. You’ll find heaps of exciting activities to cross off your bucket list or keep the family entertained.

The red sands of the Simpson Desert will rock like never before to the timeless and inspiring music of one of Australia’s most iconic rock bands. The 40 metre high Big Red Dune will light up, and the full moon will rise up from the desert dunes during their set.

This will be a once in a lifetime music experience like no other.

Supporting the Oils will be THE LIVING END and KASEY CHAMBERS.

Tickets for the Big Red Bash give you entry to the 3 days and nights of music, and on-site camping for four nights (Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th & Friday 19th July):-
Adult (18+ years) $539
Youth (12 - 17 years) $92
Child (11 years & under)
Family (2 x adults, plus unlimited child and youth) $1168

** Ticket prices include booking fee and 2.5% processing fee.


Birdsville is a small outback town situated on the banks of the Diamantina River between the sands of the Simpson Desert and the gibbers of Sturts Stony Desert. The area is steeped in history, from aboriginal meeting places to European settlement in the late 1870s and beyond.

The Birdsville population currently stands at approximately 100. The town provides modern facilities for all travellers along with many thriving businesses. Comfortable accommodation and general supplies are available in the town.
