Ad Astra

This incredible new arts complex, simply called Ad Astra, will give Brisbane a whole new level of theatre experience.

Ad Astra is located 210 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane. All of our theatres and creative spaces are at this location. These spaces are called Galaxy, Pluto, Cosmos and Halley's Cottage.

It is approximately half way between Caxton Street/The Barracks and The Normanby Five Ways/Normanby Pub.

The Ad Astra is a large theatre building and also includes the little black cottage to the left, they both have purple doors, and the main building has the purple Ad Astra sign out the front.

Galaxy
A beautiful proscenium arch 151 seat theatre that showcases plays and musicals from Australia and across the planet.

Pluto
Our 44 seat, blackbox theatre, which is a contemporary space infused with so much history, will showcase intimate productions

Halley's Cottage
A beautifully restored, century old cottage.

Cosmos
A modern, fresh space with views to Mt Coot-Tha and an adjoining courtyard

Ad Astra Theatre Company
Ad Astra means "to the stars" and that's what this theatre company strives for.

Ad Astra Theatre Company began life in 2018. Initially located in a repurposed 1970s office block in Misterton Street, Fortitude Valley. It remained until the theatre was demolished in 2025. In this beautiful space we produced 30 productions, showcased hundreds of emerging and re-emerging actors, directors, stage managers and many other professional level emerging creatives both on and off the stage.

In 2025, we moved to our exciting new complex on Petrie Terrace with four amazing spaces - Galaxy, Pluto, Cosmos and Halley's Cottage. This new creative hub will be home to exciting Australian and International plays, new Queensland works, musicals, comedy and so much more.

How To Find Us
It is located at 210 Petrie Terrace, just a short walk from Roma Street Station & Parklands, Caxton Street, and the Normanby Hotel.

Parking
Free 4-hour parking is available on either side of Petrie Terrace on weekdays between 9am & 4pm, and after 7pm. At weekends, free 4-hour parking is available all hours. On Suncorp Stadium game days, Petrie Terrace is excluded from the Lang Park Traffic Area's 15-minute restrictions. To avoid a parking fine, do not park in the side streets during events, which are limited to 15 minutes where unsigned. Alternative parking is available on Countess Street below Hardgrave Pa rk, parallel to the Busway.
