Brisbane Lions are the Reigning AFL premiers. Brisbane claimed back-to-back premierships with a 47-point victory over Geelong, on the back of a spectacular nine-goal final quarter.

Brisbane produced their highest scoring quarter of the year in the final term, slotting nine goals to win 18.14 (122) to 11.9 (75).

Brisbane's Will Ashcroft was awarded the Norm Smith Medal as the best player on the ground. He had 32 disposals, eight tackles and a goal in the grand final.

It's the Lions' fifth premiership of the millennium - the first team to achieve the feat - after flags in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2024 and 2025.

Brisbane Football Club

The Brisbane Lions were formed on 4 July, 1996, when the AFL approved a merger between the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions. The club was officially launched on 1 November 1996 and joined the national competition in 1997.

It was the first union of two clubs in VFL/AFL history - the perfect combination of an emerging force, full of youthful enthusiasm and energy, with a proud foundation club, overloaded with history and tradition.

Brisbane Bears was formed after Fitzroy (1883), one of Victoria's oldest clubs disbanded. The Brisbane Lions maintain a strong association with both Fitzroy FC - who participate in the Premier B Division of the VAFA - and the Fitzroy Juniors - which boasts around junior participants in the YJFL.

The Brisbane Football Club is one of two AFL clubs playing in Queensland with the other being Gold Coast Football Club
